DiBella: Boxing in Trouble

Promoter Lou DiBella is proposing a three-day promoters summit to address and hopefully begin to solve boxing's many problems -- such as lack of major corporate sponsors, uniform health and safety standards, shrinking TV dates and rights fees, lack of coverage in the mainstream press. DiBella correctly observes that boxing is "fading into a second-tier sport" and that "things aren't going to get any better unless we step in to fix it". Unfortunately, such a critical meeting of the sport's power brokers is as necessary as it is unlikely to take place.
