Hopkins-Joppy, Mayorga-Spinks Prepare for Battle
Wednesday December 10, 2003
Bernard Hopkins fully expects to make William Joppy his 17th consecutive victim as world middleweight champ. Joppy sees an overconfident, 38-year-old champ who hasn't faced a meaningful opponent since destroying Felix Trinidad in a career-defining fight over two years ago. The undercard includes a welterweight unification bout between Ricardo Mayorga and Cory Spinks (Leon's son) as well as Hasim Rahman vs. John Ruiz with both heavyweights needing to do something impressive to remain relevant.
