Spinks Jinx Befuddles Mayorga

This was supposed to be Ricardo Mayorga's final bout before a mega-fight with Sugar Shane Mosley early next year. Somebody obviously forgot to tell Cory Spinks about the master plan. Spinks executed a near-flawless game plan to frustrate and outpoint Mayorga -- often making the favorite look like nothing more than a free-swinging amateur. Despite Spinks' domination, the fight would have been ruled a draw if not for two points that were deducted from Mayorga for fouls in the fifth and 11th rounds. With the win, Cory keeps his family's upset legacy alive (his father, Leon, upset Muhammad Ali; his uncle, Michael, upset Larry Holmes) and sets the stage for either a bout with Mosley or a rematch with Mayorga.
