New Scandal for Boxing?
Friday January 9, 2004
Just what the beleaguered sport doesn't need to start the new year. The Daily News is reporting that the FBI has raided Bob Arum's Top Rank headquarters in Las Vegas as part of an ongoing investigation which alleges that the promotional company and a number of its boxers were involved in schemes to throw fights. Not only that, but they may actually be looking into whether De La Hoya-Mosley II really was fixed! Could the charges be true? Remember Arum once uttered a line that would make Pete Rose proud: "Yesterday I was lying. Today I am telling the truth." Stay tuned -- this has the potential to get extremely ugly.
