Mesi Remains Unbeaten ... Barely
Sunday March 14, 2004
Joe Mesi looked like he might be the real deal through eight rounds of his bout with blown-up cruiserweight Vassiliy Jirov. However, for the final two rounds, Mesi looked like just another over-hyped, underwhelming pretender. To Mesi's credit, he did survive three knockdowns in those final two rounds to eke out a 94-93 decision on the scorecards of all three judges. There is talk of a Mesi-Mike Tyson fight later this year. Tyson may be shot but he'd still be too much for Mesi.
