NJ Denies Mayorga Appeal
Wednesday March 24, 2004
The New Jersey State Athletic Control Board has rejected the claim by Ricardo Mayorga that mistakes by referee Tony Orlando cost him his WBA and WBC belts. Mayorga's camp contended that their fighter knocked down Cory Spinks in the eight and 12th rounds of their Dec. 13 bout but that each fall was incorrectly ruled as a slip. Mayorga's people need to stop whining and move on. Good job by the NJSACB in ruling against Mayorga.
