Who's Next for Gatti?

Wednesday July 28, 2004
After stopping previously undefeated Leonard Dorin with a second-round body shot, Arturo Gatti was delighted not only to win but also - for a change - to not have to go to the hospital following a fight. The victory over Dorin leaves Gatti well-positioned to secure another big money fight. Like Oscar De La Hoya, Gatti may not be the best fighter in his weight class but he is the money man that can sell out an arena and generate good TV ratings. With that clout, Gatti has many choices in what is perhaps the sport's deepest division: Kostya Tsyzu (legitimate champ at 140); Floyd Mayweather (new to 140 but most talented by a long shot); Paul Spadafora; Vivian Harris; Rickey Hatton; Jesse James Leija; Sharmba Mitchell and Miguel Cotto. Fight fans will be delighted see Gatti against any of the above.
