Tszyu Prepared for Tough Return Bout
Wednesday November 3, 2004
IBF super-lightweight champion Kostya Tszyu makes his long-awaited return Saturday against interim champ Sharmba Mitchell. Tszyu had shoulder surgery shortly after beating James Leija in Jan. 2003 and hasn't fought since. Taking on such a tough opponent after a long layoff is risky and many experts are picking the crafty Mitchell to win by decision. Tsyzu, 35, defeated Mitchell in their first meeting in Feb. 2001 when Mitchell was forced to retire after the seventh round because of an injured left knee.
