Hall of Fame Selects 15 for Induction

Wednesday January 12, 2005
The International Boxing Hall of Fame has announced its Class of 2005. Six of the 15 that were voted in are expected to attend the June induction ceremonies in Canastota, NY: fighters Bobby Chacon, Terry Norris, Barry McGuigan and Duilio Loi, matchmaker Don Fraser and writer Bert Sugar. The Hall of Fame also released the names of nine posthumous honorees: old-timers Eugene Criqui, Joe Lynch, Charles "Bud" Taylor and Marcel Thil; manager and film historian Bill Cayton; manager-promoter Lope Sarreal; writers Jersey Jones and Harry Mullan and pioneer Jack Randall. The IBHOF is a great place to visit and all these men undoubtedly deserve recognition for their contributions to the sport of boxing ... but boxing's hall will never be confused with baseball's in terms of how difficult it is to gain induction.
