Reality Show Boxer Commits Suicide

Middleweight Najai Turpin, one of 16 contestants on the upcoming NBC boxing reality series "The Contender," has committed suicide. Turpin, 23, reportedly shot himself while sitting in a parked car with his girlfriend on Valentine's Day morning. NBC executives say the series will debut as planned on March 7. The segments involving Turpin's participation in the tournament are also expected to air as scheduled. The show will, however, likely provide an onscreen message noting Turpin's death.
