Castillo & Lacy Pound Out TKO Wins

Monday March 7, 2005
Light weight champ Jose Luis Castillo was just too big and too strong for Julio Diaz, stopping the former champ in ten rounds to retain his WBC title. Diaz was cut over both eyes and knocked down twice in the final round, prompting the referee to call a halt to the action. Next up for Castillo should be a May 7 unification bout with WBO champ Diego Corrales. On the undercard, IBF super middleweight champ Jeff Lacy scored a seventh-round TKO over Rubin Williams despite a gutsy effort by the challenger. After the fight, Lacy called for a unification bout with WBO champ Joe Calzaghe.
