Corrales Stops Castillo in a Classic

Sunday May 8, 2005
Everyone expected lightweights Diego Corrales and Jose Luis Castillo to put on a good show. No one could have predicted just how the great this fight would actually turn out to be. Corrales, fighting with both eyes nearly swollen shut, was knocked down twice in the tenth round and looked to be finished. However, later in that same round, Corrales rocked Castillo and pounded him on the ropes until referee Tony Weeks jumped in to stop the fight at 2:06 of round ten. Both men will need considerable time to recover but talk of a rematch is already underway.
