Robinson Aims to Ruin Chavez' Retirement Party
Friday May 27, 2005
Six-and-a-half years ago, Ivan Robinson was coming off his second thrilling victory over Arturo Gatti. At 27, the future seemed incredibly bright. Since then, Robinson has gone 5-7-2. Now Robinson finds himself as the designated "opponent" for Julio Cesar Chavez' latest farewell fight. Chavez, 42, is only 7-3 himself over the last seven years with just two bouts in the last three-and-a-half years. So what's the point of this fight? Not much other than to give fans another chance to say goodbye to a legend. So why is the fight on pay-per-view instead of regular cable? Because the promoters feel fight fans will be willing to shell out $39.95 for the chance to say goodbye ... again ... and quite possibly not for the last time. You make the call.
