Brewster TKOs Krasniqi in Nine

Lamon Brewster has retained his WBO heavyweight title by stopping German challenger Luan Krasniqi in the ninth round. Krasniqi was controlling the action with his jab until Brewster knocked him down with a hard left in the eighth round. A Brewster right sent Krasniqi down again late in the ninth and the referee stopped the fight. The challenger - fighting in front of a predictably partisan hometown crowd - was ahead by five points, three points and one point on the three judges' scorecards at the time of the stoppage. Next up for Brewster might be a rematch with Wladimir Klitschko, who Brewster stopped in five rounds in April 2004.
