Taylor, Hopkins Set for Rematch
Tuesday November 29, 2005
A lot more than just the middleweight title will be on the line Saturday night when Jermain Taylor and Bernard Hopkins meet in the rematch of their June 15 bout. Taylor won the first fight by controversial split decision but was unhappy with his performance and has vowed to do better the second time around. In contrast, Hopkins - who gave away too many early rounds in their first meeting - was satisfied with his performance and insists he was robbed. This time around, both fighters are seeking a convincing win which should result in an even better show for fight fans. A win by the likeable Taylor would vault him to superstar status and likely send Hopkins into retirement. A win by Hopkins - rapidly approaching his 41st birthday - would put an exclamation point on his already Hall of Fame career. Prediction: Hopkins corrects his mistakes from the first fight and applies pressure on Taylor from the opening bell to regain his title via unanimous decision.
