Former Champ Oliver McCall Arrested
Friday January 20, 2006
Former heavyweight champ Oliver McCall, 40, has been arrested for trespassing in a public housing development in Nashville, Tennessee. When informed he was under arrest, McCall "took off running" and then fought with multiple officers. Police used a Taser to finally restrain McCall and recovered a crack pipe and a small amount of cocaine. Reports also indicate McCall spit at an officer and threatened to kill him. McCall has had previous run-ins with the law as well as an unforgettable meltdown in the ring in his 1997 rematch with Lennox Lewis. McCall stopped throwing punches and broke down in tears during the fight, forcing referee Mills Lane to stop the fight in the fifth round. McCall's most recent fight was a ten-round loss to Juan Carlos Gomez on Oct. 15, 2005.
