Undefeated Duddy Stops Pudwill in First Round

Friday March 17, 2006
Middleweight John Duddy (16-0, 14 KOs) remained undefeated with a first round destruction of Shelby Pudwill before a sellout crowd at the Theatre at Madison Square Garden. It took less than two minutes for Duddy to send Pudwill to the canvas three times, prompting referee Wayne Kelley to call a halt to the one-sided bout. Duddy, a native of Ireland, gave the wildly enthusiastic (and largely Irish) crowd exactly what they came to see -- an impressive knockout ... not to mention an excuse to start their St. Patrick's Day celebration a little early.
