Mosley Destroys Vargas in 6
Sunday July 16, 2006
The first meeting was close ... not this time. Shane Mosley (43-4) dominated Fernando Vargas (26-4) for five rounds and then stopped him in the sixth. Mosley was much quicker and beat a sluggish Vargas to the punch from the opening bell. A Mosley punch cut Vargas over the right eye in round five. Vargas was dropped by a perfect left hook from Mosley in the sixth and - after having difficulty getting up - was still shaky when referee Kenny Bayless allowed the action to continue. Mosley promptly landed a flurry of punches on an unsteady Vargas, forcing Bayless to stop the fight at the 2:38 mark of round six. After the fight, the talk immediately turned to what each fighter should do next. The sentiment seemed to be that Vargas should retire and that Mosley should move back to welterweight to take on Floyd Mayweather Jr. ... both of which sound like good ideas given their respective performances tonight.

Why is it that Vargas never had a good trainer take him under his wing. Like McGirt did with Gatti. I believe he would of had a much better career and not be completely shot at 28 years of age with only 30 fights. Vargas needed to change his game plan if he ever was going to be a great fighter.
Vargas lived fast and had all of his success at an early age. Another trainer may have made him a better BOXER, but it was vargas’s power and heart that made him a contender, not his boxing ability. And both were lost because of the back injury.
Vargas has always thought that he was better than he actually was. He had a big mouth and the skills to only back it up against contenders, not champions. Heart is only good if you have the brains to know what to do when all you have left is heart, Vargas never had that. I’m glad I hopefully won’t have to hear his mouth anymore.
Vargas should get out while he can still talk…. He has had some tuff fights.. Hate him or love him one thing no one could ever take from him is he’s heart… He should off never called out Tito so young…
Enough about Vargas; when matched against top-flight opposition, he fell short.
Moseley’s forte has always been his speed; he made De La Hoya look like he was fighting in slow motion. An old man by boxing standards, at 34, Shane’s chances against Mayweather are slim & none.
damn…..i dint even know who won until now….vargas quit man….u dont have what it takes to be a oscar, mosley, etc……see braggarts nver win
Vargas is a Very Good Fighter !Mosley, De la Hoya, Mayweather ,are exellent fighters. On Nov.10 Cotto will take on, not another fair or good fighter, But ,a superior Welterweight : Mosley.Which could be a big big mistake!
