Tyson and Sanders Go a Boring Four

By October 21, 2006

Follow me on:

Mike Tyson Corey SandersMike Tyson is back ... sort of. The "Mike Tyson World Tour" is officially underway but - after a decidedly lackluster kick-off - it's unclear if there will be much demand for additional stops. In what amounted to little more than a glorified sparring session, Tyson and Corey "T-Rex" Sanders huffed-and-puffed their way through four rounds in front of about 4,000 fans in a 6,000-seat minor league hockey arena in Youngstown, Ohio. Both men wore t-shirts and 16-ounce gloves. Sanders wore headgear, while Tyson - sporting his trademark black shoes and black trunks - elected not to use headgear.

As expected, Tyson was the aggressor throughout. Sanders, who provided little opposition, was dropped early in round one and took some big shots in both the third and fourth rounds. As an exhibition bout, there was no decision. The "fight" was Tyson's first since "retiring" after being stopped in six rounds by Kevin McBride in June 2005.

I think a comeback by Tyson can be made if he is mentally strong. If he finds a way to motivate himself to work out every week he can make a comeback,he needs to work on his physical condition more than anything and in the fight he shall use his speed not his power because it is than u lose,if u hit with 80 percent of ur maximal power u last longer and when the opponent is shaken than comes the big hit.

No Pete, I agree! For sure Mike is aware that true boxing and Tyson fans, dislike what he is doing. In fact these events are replacing our good memories of him as the most obvious and the best heavy weight fighter after Alis retirement, with memories of remembering Tyson for his low quality fights. As human beings, we are all expert of remembering the bad. However, if you have no other way to make money, but you are expert of spending a fortune, WELL, then I have to say; Mike I understand why you are trying to sell low quality. I love my old memories of you too much to have them replaced by more recent memories of you!!

Tyson was a great example of speed, strength, youth and what good trainers can do. His style relied on a level of spped that neither he nor anyone else can maintain into their thirties. His boxer’s strength de-volved into more of a body builder’s type of strength after he left his original group of trainers.(A boxers muscles should be packed with capillaries for endurance; maintained with high-rep strenght work on the heavy bag, and high rep cable and bodyweight work. Too much bodybuilding adds muscle without capillaries; looks good, but won’t keep going.) also not having his best triners kepot him fro maltering his style to work best with his middle-aged loss of top speed. As far as Lewis, he’s been retired for quite a while now, he’s a smart guy who kept -all- of his money, and there’s simply nothing for him to prove: no one worth coming back to beat. Besides, he’s given up the belt, so the fight would be a non-title, barely ranked, -low- money fight. Tyson got his butt kicke -tehn-, does anyone really think he;ll ever even get close to =thst= level of fitness again. He’s most famous for -not- having self-discipline, and yet some think he’ll finaly get his act together in his mid-forties?

the only way tyson could ever reclaim glory would be to give up his substance abuse and with some great miracle emmanuel stewart would need to train him no one else!

Mike is a the best! If he truely wanted to and had the will to be hungry for the title he could easily win back the IBF, WBA, and the WBO. He could get title fights with ease everyone ones the big money payday and that what Tyson is the only problem Tyson would have is against Klitschko, and if he had beaten those IBF, WBA and WBO champs already im sure he would be ready enough to take on Klitschko and give him a real good chance to win! Lets face it those 3 title holders are a joke and Tyson could easily come back and once again be champion if he wanted to.

He needs to regain his confidence start with c class fighters around his size not these giants he’s faced in his last 2 fights. Freddie Roach had him in great shape for the ettiene fight 223 speed is key for mike.

It is nearly August 2008, already. Tyson -COULD (maybe) get back into shape to compete, again but, Why, especially now? He has better things he can “tend” to, I believe. Yo! I was together with MT in the 83 New England’s at Lowell (I lost to Bobby Christakos in the 156 lb -finals-). He is a very Nice, Cool person Then, and I’m sure he is still a -great human being.
