Mike Tyson Checks Into Rehab

By February 8, 2007

Follow me on:

Former heavyweight champ Mike Tyson - awaiting trial on drug charges - has checked himself into an in-patient program at the Wonderland Center in the Hollywood Hills for treatment of "various addictions".

Tyson was arrested on Dec. 29 in Scottsdale, AZ, after his BMW was spotted weaving through traffic. Tyson had cocaine in his pocket and in his car and told officers he uses cocaine "any time he can get his hands on it." On Jan. 22, Tyson pleaded not guilty to felony drug and paraphernalia possession and two misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence of drugs. A pre-trial hearing is scheduled for Feb. 26. If convicted on all four drug charges, Tyson could face up to 7˝ years in prison.

According to TMZ.com, Tyson has been one of the "humblest, sweetest, and most genuinely considerate celebrities" the people at Wonderland have ever dealt with. Tyson was reportedly concerned that the other residents would hate him for all the wrong that he's done.

Rick, I believe Mike has given himself to a religious group before. I am a fellow Christian, but sometimes people are just born with problems. Mike has several. I wouldn’t look for him to be a model or even productive citizen anytime soon. Maybe if he takes his real meds instead of the coke. I’m a huge fan and I say, time to lock him up for a long time. He’s been given 20 chances. Enough is enough.

I am not justifying Mike’s addiction, but We shouldn’t forget that the name “Mike Tyson” has created an industry making loads of money and brings taxes to government and income to thousands of people dealing with Mike Tyson stories around the world.

Mike Tyson has problems, YES! But should we just lock him up?
Did we want that when he was on our screen and making incredible fights?
Well, now that he has problems and is a burden for his surroundings why not just give him death penalty and remove him for ever?
He needs help, Not jail. When will people (especially Americans) understand that the solution to all violence and crimes are not “prisons and more violence in return”?
Box for peace!!!
Help sick people by treatment…

A year on an isolated farm that raises animals and crops, with a moral, upright family, would do you a world of good, away from temptations and hangers- on – and yes, talk to George Foreman, a man I respect very much here in TX.
