Boxing Writer Suspended for Plagiarism
Wednesday March 7, 2007
Veteran boxing writer Ron Borges has been suspended without pay for two months by the Boston Globe for plagiarizing part of a football column from another reporter. Borges' football notes column from last Sunday included material about a Seattle Seahawks football player that had been written by Mike Sando and appeared in the Tacoma News Tribune on Feb. 25.
In addition to writing for the Boston Globe, Borges frequently appears on HBO boxing telecasts and is currently vice-president of the Boxing Writers Association of America. A detailed account of how the plagiarism story unfolded is available at coldhardfootballfacts.com
