Maske Upsets Hill After 10 Year Layoff
When Maske elected to come out of retirement to try to avenge his loss to Hill, the conventional wisdom was that - while both fighters are way past-their-primes at 43 - Hill's activity would give him a huge edge over Maske. Guess again . . .
Hill was more active early but Maske eventually turned the tide and outworked Hill down the stretch. Maske had a point deducted in round eight after an accidental clash of heads left Hill with a deep gash over his left eye. In the end, however, the point did not impact the outcome as Maske won a unanimous decision by scores of 117-110, 117-110 and 116-113. It was not a great fight - and both fighters would be well-advised to hang up the gloves for good - but the sellout of 12,000 at the Olympiahalle in Munich, Germany was happy to see Maske pull off the improbable upset.

Can you believe it? How does a guy lay off for 10 yrs after losing to someone and get a rematch with that winner still being active over this time and beat him? I saw the first fight and Hill deserved the decision. Hill should hang it up unless he wants a Tommy Hearns rematch. Probably lose again.
That is pretty surprising, I never saw the first fight so hopefully it warranted the re-match but with 12,000 people in attendance there was obviously a lot of anticipation of this fight. Does anyone know if this is going to shown on TV this weekend?
two great fighters
kudos for hill and maske still tryin to make things interesting…….maybe they should do the 3peat and finalize it
