Holyfield's Next Opponent: Lou Savarese
Wednesday May 9, 2007
The next step in the latest comeback of former heavyweight champ Evander Holyfield (41-8-2) will be a June 30 date against big Lou Savarese (46-6). The fight is likely to take place in El Paso, Texas -- making it four straight bouts in Texas for the 44-year-old Holyfield. The first three comeback opponents were Jeremy Bates, Fres Oquendo and Vinny Maddalone, so Savarese represents a slight step up in class as Holyfield attempts to secure yet another title shot.
Savarese, 41, is also on the comeback trail -- winning three straight against limited opposition. Savarese was 'retired' for nearly two years following back-to-back losses to Kirk Johnson and Leo Nolan.

Lou Savarese is one of the good guys. He hit’s very hard and has a big heart. I expect Holyfield to move on him. Lou has had his comeback fights in Houston where he has trained out of for years just like Evander. They probably know each other very well. I would like to see pull off a win but he will have to be at his best.
how about a morrison, holyfield bout? morison fights winnner of savarese bout?
Now that would be a real joke!!!!!!!!
i give it up to holyfield he’s really serious about the comeback……..and in the state the heavies are in i see him beating an oleg or any other champ right now……..lou will give a descent performance but after what mike tyson has did to him i’m suprise he aint a veggie burger
