Hatton Stops Castillo in 4
What was expected to be a highly competitive back-and-forth battle never materialized as Hatton established his advantages in both speed and power right from the opening bell. Castillo's various ring wars with the likes of Floyd Mayweather and Diego Corrales may have finally taken their toll as his balance and timing have clearly deteriorated since his prime. Punch stats favored Hatton, who landed 81 of 220 punches (37%) to 58 of 192 (30%) for Castillo.
Given the opportunity to call out Floyd Mayweather after the fight, Hatton claimed that "you saw more action in these four rounds than ... in Floyd's whole career". Hatton would be a betting underdog against Mayweather but might have the style required to finally force Mayweather into delivering a crowd pleasing performance. Fight fans may have to wait a while as Mayweather seems unlikely to agree to anything until Oscar De La Hoya decides whether or not he wants a rematch. Given a choice between Mayweather-De La Hoya II and Mayweather-Hatton, I'll take Mayweather-Hatton in a heartbeat. How about you? Which fight would you rather see?

floyd gets on everybody’s nerves..he is NOT ray leonard..far too much mouth..sure he got slick skills.. but ray leonard would ov shredded him..and aaron pryor?..jeeezus!!..both would ov lamped floyd.. SO YES…LET US HAVE RICKY HATTON V PRETTY BORING BOY FLOYD. SMASH HIM UP RICKY….
I disagree, Hatton is a energy fighter and was expected to beat weight drained JLC to the punch and as soon as the mexican would fight back and got depleted, Ricky would put on a 2nd gear and finish him on the ropes as it came out to be surprinsingly sooner than expected by most… Hatton doesn’t need to run after shadows and be the 3rd man on a row tryin to solve a riddle, he needs a natural hardcore fight that certainly will make everyone look closely in Puerto Rican British Collision Cotto hatton that should have happened at 140 lbs and now has no reason 4 not happening ( both junior welter and former wba welter unbeaten titlists)
Mayweather vs. Hatton definitely, but only at 140 pounds, not at 146.
I have no interest in watching Floyd run around in circles. Make it Hatton vs Cotto
Mayweather vs Hatton, both and manny pacquiao are the best pound-for-pound of the world, but pacquiao is a superfeatherweigth, amazing superfigth in welterweight
I find it hilarious that Ricky Hatton calls Floyd “boring” when he himself had a ringside seat at the Mayweather vs. Gatti massacre, lol. Anyone that thinks that Hatton has the “style” to beat Floyd needs to look no further than his ‘questionable’ win over LUIS COLLOZO. While Luis is a “good” boxer, Floyd’s a Piccaso and the same thing would happen. Hatton has no “PLAN B” after he does his straight forward style and gets countered. Floyd would pick him apart easy. Hatton should fight Malignaggi (Floyd Mayweather LITE) to gauge himself if he can take on Mayweather before he opens his big mouth.
Good comments. Hatton punches 2x and holds. If Kosta Zu and this fight were two of his biggest victories I would not brag about it. The ref beat Zu. Castillo was shot. Didn’t look as bad as Baby Face Garcia did the night before but still Hatton beat a shell of Castillo. Those body shots that no one see’s except in a slow motion replay never go over well with the crowd or people at home. Hatton has to stay at 140. Face those like Witter, M’Baye and others he’s ducked for years. He could do that in the UK. He has not won the US people over. Mayweather? That would be suicide. At least with Cotto he would have a fighting chance even if he would come up short. Did the ref Joe Cortez have a clue what he was doing?
All good comments, however i think mayweather would be to quick for hatton, he hangs on and leaves himself open far to much mayweather would be in and out before he knew it. I also think it would be a pretty boring fight i think hatton v cotto would be much more entertaining although still a tough fight for hatton, but i think he would win. I think hatton might be chasing the money a little bit as i think he only has two good fights left in him.
I don’t think Hatton has earned a fight against the #1 pound-for-pound champ. I would rather see someone like shane mosley fight mayweather, and hatton prove himself against someone else at the welterweight division.
Mayweather is a top class boxer and he would be running from Ricky most the fight, however Rickys footwork is massively underrated ,couple that with his stamina and work rate hes sure to catch him…..goodnight vienna floyd ! new kid on the block!!!!!!
Ive just read that floyd is coming out of retirement because ricky has disrespected him…..what a dumb and thick thing for someone like him to say, have we(the public) not sat and listened to mayweather disrespect every boxer who he’s fought.I’d love Ricky to do him ! he’s a class act in and out the ring. The peoples Champ which floyd knows….and doesnt like…lol
I think Hatton is on his way to being 1 of the greats. Floyd has a great skill at not getting hit and able to hit with skill that seems to be great but he also has fought no1 A old Oscar does not impress me why not have him fight Cotto or Sugar Shane, Hatton Malignaggi then if they win each other?
Hatton dominated the fight almost from the get go; Castillo is better than he looked and is not burnt out in my opinion. He just could not get on track or into a rhythm and was always reacting to the determined Hatton. Castillo is such a classy fighter and guy that it would have been terrible if he had been beaten up every round. The way to do hatton is to step back as he moves forward and then to the side–easier said than done. Who would ever want to see a mayweather against anyone non-fight would be a waste of Hatton’s time and talent and he might look bad chasing after the running Mayweather.
One final observation: Max Kellerman was awful, terrible, bad, bad, bad. Marble mouth Max looked unprepared or overprepared, stiff, slow, mumbling and just awful. Bring back the old guy! Better still, bring in Teddy Atlas. There is no smarter fight guy, except maybe Manny, and Teddy has that Yoggi use of the language that is just great and entertaining.
hatton will spread big mouth, all over the ring, as referee layne says “bring it on”,
I prefer to watch De la Hoya vs Hatton fight. It would be more exciting!
I prefer HAtton – De la HOya.. HAtton and mayweather will be a boring fight definitely.. PACQUIAO is the most exciting of them all
Mayweather and Hatton fight would be interesting. I really don’t like Mayweather but he would most likely win by decision or cuts. Hatton is just not skilled enought, does not have enough power at welter, and holds too much. As far as people mentioning Cotto, Cotto would destroy both of them. Only way Cotto will lose is if he faces someone as powerful or more power than him like maybe Margarito or P. Williams. He destroys boxers e.g. Malinaggi, Quintana, Judah(boxer-puncher). He is not as slow as people says and can cut off the ring. He stopped the faster Judah. Cotto has the best chance of any fighter at welter to beat Mayweather right now and hatton would not have enought power to bang with him. If De Lahoya could get mayweather on the ropes just imagine what cotto would do.
maywethers style would frustrate hatton he has to get close to his apponent to inflct damage he would lose on points
hatton has beat an old zu, an old shot castillo, lets face facts he’s avoided mayweather and cotto and couldn’t handle a weight highter where in everyones eyes he got beat off collazo.
punch two times and hold would never work with mayweather, still hatton has been ducking cotto and mayweather for some time and I’ll only believe hatton is serious when he gets someone in their prime, nah suppose hatton will fight an old oscar now,
Hatton V Mayweather, but wouldnt mind seein Hatton v Oscar de la hoya at some were like wemberly stadium first before the big money fight in the states against flloyd
pbf has fought many a hatton!!!hatton has never fought anyone like pbf!!
hopefully ricky can pull it off next weekend
While I respect Mayweather’s athletic ability I do not respect him as a man. Yes, he has a perfect record and every man he has ever faught he has had to badmouth. I’ve been a boxing fan for over 50 years and I have never wanted to see a fighter beaten more than I want Hatton to beat Mayweather. Hatton is a class act both in and out of the ring. Mayweather is a punk. I think it will be a good fight provided Hatton can catch Mayweather. I am looking forward to seeing Matweather beaten like an un-wanted step-child. As for Oscar, another class act all the way around. He has done so much as a role model and I hope he stays in the sport for many years to come.
Oh my God listen to you mayweather non believers when floyd was coming up Castillio was a champion in his prime a feared fighter in his division mayweather was a young up and coming unknown undefeated fighter mayweather beat him 1st time tough fight 2nd time mayweather beat him.
Dieago rest in pieace if he was still living he will beat ricky hatton he has no controll over his punches he just swings wild hoping to connect and his power is not impressive expecially at 147 but i will brak it down
For Ricky to win he would have to stay on floyd through out the whole fight develope a nice jab to set him up but one slip up and mayweather has already caught him with 5 punches before he noticed it yet he is a aggressive fighter so live up to his reputation
Mayweather just do him and he will win
don’t look at mayweather oppenents he faced as where they at right now
go back in the past and look where they was at then when he faced them
For example Dieago only lost one fight before meeting mayweather a dangerous puncher many thought mayweather would lose that fight by KO but he proved them wrong
Mayweather will win this fight to set up the super fight between Miguel Cotto R Paul Williams I would like to see Miguel Cotto and Paul Williams face each other to see who gets the pound 4 pound champ in a super unification match
I HAVE TO GIVE THE GUY MAYWEATHER PROPS AFTER WHAT HE DID TO OSCAR RIIGHT ON!!
