Mayweather-Hatton Does 850,000 PPV Buys

Wednesday December 19, 2007
The Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Ricky Hatton fight on Dec. 8 generated 850,000 buys and $47 million in pay-per-view revenue -- making it the most successful fight in PPV history if you exclude fights involving Oscar De La Hoya, Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield.

2007 was a banner year for Pretty Boy as his May 5 bout with Oscar De La Hoya generated a record 2.4 million buys and $134 million in revenue.

2007 was also a record-breaking year for HBO-PPV as its eight events did 4.8 million buys and over $255 million in revenue (topping 1999's 4.0 million buys and $200 million in revenue).
