Over 500,000 PPV Buys for Jones-Trinidad

Friday January 25, 2008
The pre-fight buzz regarding last weekend's Roy Jones Jr. - Felix Trinidad non-thriller was that it was little more than a meaningless match-up between two faded stars ... but that didn't stop a lot of people - more than 500,000 - from buying the fight on pay-per-view. This marked the second best PPV performance of Jones' career, topped only by his 2003 defeat of John Ruiz for a heavyweight alpha-belt (604,000 buys).

If you weren't among that half-million that watched Jones-Trinidad live (or in the unlikely event you feel the need to see it again), you can catch the replay on HBO Saturday night (check local listings) when it will be paired with a heavyweight eliminator between Alexander Povetkin (14-0) and Eddie Chambers (30-0) (on tape delay from Germany). The Povetkin-Chambers winner becomes the mandatory challenger for IBF champ Wladimir Klitschko ... but Klitschko defends his belt on Feb. 23 against Sultan Ibragimov so things could obviously change (as they tend to do in boxing).
