Pavlik-Taylor II: Round-by-Round
Round Two: Another good action round. Pavlik is moving forward but Taylor begins to put his punches together and lands a few big rights. TAYLOR
Round Three: Both fighters are head-hunting. Pavlik has heavier hands but look a bit slow and eats a bunch of jabs from a very sharp, focused Taylor. TAYLOR
Round Four Pavlik's thudding jab begins to find its mark with some consistency but Taylor land some clean, effective shots late to steal the round. TAYLOR
Round Five: Taylor's punch output drops a bit but still effective enough to win the round. Pavlik's game plan appears to be to wear Taylor down. TAYLOR
Round Six: Taylor lands the round's better punches but Pavlik simply outworks him to win the round. Taylor may be showing first signs of tiring. PAVLIK
Round Seven: When Taylor throws punches, he's still much faster and more effective than Pavlik ... but he's simply not busy enough. Maybe too concerned with pacing himself. PAVLIK
Round Eight: Taylor continues to land the cleaner, flashier punches but he's taking long breaks between flurries while Pavlik keeps plodding forward and working. PAVLIK
Round Nine: Tough fight to score. Pavlik is the busier, more aggressive fighter. Taylor is quicker and lands the cleaner shots. PAVLIK
Round Ten: Good round for Taylor ... maybe he was saving something for the final three rounds. Pavlik's first time beyond nine rounds. TAYLOR
Round Eleven: Pavlik continues to come forward but looks sloppy. Taylor appears fresher until a late Pavlik body shot seems to sap his strength. PAVLIK
Round Twelve: Both fighters look tired but Pavlik keeps throwing. Taylor lands a few good shots to the body but it's too little, too late. Several clinches in final minute. PAVLIK
Unofficial score: 115-113 PAVLIK
Official Scores: 117-111 (Dave Moretti), 115-113 (Patricia Jarman), 116-112 (Glenn Trowbridge) - Unanimous decision for PAVLIK
Punch Stats: Total Punches: Pavlik - 267 of 845 (32%); Taylor - 178 of 456 (39%). Total Jabs: Pavlik - 144 of 484 (30%); Taylor - 102 of 292 (35%). Total Power Punches: Pavlik - 123 of 361 (34%); Taylor - 76 of 164 (46%).
Post-fight: Both fighters very gracious and classy after the bout. Pavlik refuses to call out who he wants to fight next. Taylor says he thought he did enough early to win the decision but credits Pavlik for being a strong fighter.
What's next: Pavlik will likely move back down to 160 to defend his WBC and WBO titles against John Duddy. Taylor will likely move to 168 but when and who he will face remains to be seen.

I can’t agree with the posted round by round assessment. Kelly carried the fight to Jermaine all night, landed the more powerful punchs and did more work. I gave it to Pavlik 9 rounds to 3. As always Jermaine was game and made a good fight but Pavlik whipped him pretty good.
I think Dave Moretti is dumb/.; That is the most ridiculous score for a fight of this caliber??
kelly’s just a tougher guy thats why he won
This was a good but not great fight. From where I sit, Pavlik was clearly the winner at a bigger score than the judges had. He carried the fight and was much busier by almost 2:1. Taylor is just not in the same league and I wonder how well he will do moving up where everyone is as big a or bigger than Pavlik. It is hard to see where Taylor will fit in either division and still be competitive.Pavlik is one heck of a fighter and is still learning.
maybe Im on another planet but JT won the fight, Pavlik was just busier, but Jermain landed the harder, more impressive punches
Taylor lost,Pavlik did’nt win!!!
