Hatton-Lazcano on Versus
Lazcano, 33, is a solid pro but has been out of action for 15 months since losing a close 12 round decision to Vivian Harris. The good news is that he should stand in front of Hatton and trade shots, which should make for an entertaining bout.
Also televised will be the rematch between IBF junior welterweight champ Paulie Malignaggi (24-1) and Lovemore N'Dou (46-9-1). Nothing against N'Dou but there is no reason for this rematch. Malignaggi won the first meeting less than one year ago by lopsided decision (120-106, 120-106,118-108) and N'Dou has only fought once since then - stopping a 14-12-2 fighter (Rafael ortiz) who was coming off back-to-back losses.
Both Hatton and Malignaggi are expected to win. Assuming they do, they could face each other in October.
Hatton's loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr. clearly hasn't hurt his popularity in his home country -- the Lazcano bout has already sold 55,000 tickets, making it the largest live gate in the history of British boxing.
