That's right, the once-proud U.S. amateur boxing program will bring home one fewer medal than either Kazakhstan or Mongolia. What is wrong with U.S amateur boxing and what - if anything - can be done to fix it?

Why would any young boxer want to train so hard to box under those insane Olympic Boxing Rules. I watched two fighters slug it out for two rounds and no one got a point. The best U.S boxers aren’t going to put up with those rules. They rather turn pro so and at least have a chance to win.
thats crap..!! who wouldnt want the chance of an olympic gold medal.!! that alone slingshots you forward into a professional career.. prime example ‘Amir Kahn’ who took sliver for the uk at last olympics & now earns big money selling out arena’s with a huge sponsership from reebok!! why is it all you yanks blame the sport when you come up short on talent.. the heavyweight division for example… c’mon the Irish team lets turn those 3 medals into 3 gold…
The matches were either fixed or more probably the judges and the insane system in place were to blame. I think they should go back to the old system: 5 judges from 5 different countries who rate the match round by round not by individual punches. For one thing the judges apparently never see a body punch and more importantly they cannot award more points for superior jaw busting punches. If joe frazier had to fight under these sissy rules when he was young he would have lost every olympic fight he entered unless, of course, he knocked the guy out.
