Poll: Barrera vs. Khan. Who Will Win?

By , About.com Guide   March 11, 2009

Follow me on:

This Saturday, Marco Antonio Barrera (65-6) and Amir Khan (19-1) meet in Manchester, England in the ultimate crossroads bout. Barrera, 35, is a future Hall of Famer but he more-or-less retired after back-to-back losses to Juan Manuel Marquez and Manny Pacquiao. The 22-year-old Khan, a 2004 Olympic silver medallist, was on the fast-track to stardom before a shocking first round KO loss to Breidis Prescott last September.

Oddsmakers have made Khan a slight favorite (-140/+110), but this is an incredibly difficult fight to predict. How much does Barrera have left in the tank? Was Khan's KO loss a fluke or is he more hype than substance? The prediction here is that Barrera does enough to win the fight ... though he may have to stop Khan as it could be hard for him to earn a decision in front of Khan's countrymen.

Who do you think will win? Barrera or Khan? Vote in our poll.

The Barrera-Khan card will be available for $24.95 on pay-per-view at 4 PM ET / 1 PM PT and rebroadcast at 9 PM ET / 6 PM PT. The undercard includes cruiserweights Enzo Maccarinelli (29-2) vs. Ola Afolabi (13-1-3) and Nicky Cook (29-1) defending his WBO super middleweight title against Roman Martinez (21-0-1).

I have Khan as a favorite because I think he will KO Barrera early. He is at least faster and can be the busier of the two.Khan will not be there for Barrera to knock out.I hope Khan throws a shotgun jab immediately into the fight and gets on him quick.
