George Foreman III Wins Pro Debut

Monday June 8, 2009
George Foreman IIIGeorge "Monk" Foreman III made his professional debut a successful one, stopping an overmatched and out-of-shape Clyde Weaver (0-2) at 1:16 of the first round. Foreman, the 26-year-old son of former champ George Foreman, floored Weaver twice - first with a left to the chin, then with a left to the body - before the referee called a halt to the mismatch.

This wasn't just Foreman's pro debut ... he never fought as an amateur either. At 6-foot-5, 237-pounds, Foreman has the body of a heavyweight contender but whether or not he's truly serious about the sport remains to be seen.

Big George, 60, is his son’s manager and trainer but elected not to watch the bout. After the fight, however, Foreman came in to the ring to congratulate his son.

George Foreman's daughter, Freeda Foreman, briefly competed as a professional boxer, compiling a 5-1 record with three KOs between June 2000 and November 2001.

What the hells Weaver doing in the ring? he didn’t land a single punch. perhaps he should train a little.

I think this fight was largely pointless, other than giving Foreman III an easy 1st victory, It’ll be interesting to see him fight someone who hits back. Till then, the juries out on his prospects.

I agree with Chris. Had to be a white boy, too. Some things never change. Is Tex Cobb’s son next?
