Reminder: Klitschko-Chagaev on ESPN Classic Today at 5pm ET

Saturday June 20, 2009
Today's heavyweight bout between Wladimir Klitschko and Ruslan Chagaev is not on HBO ... and it's not on ESPN ... it's on ESPN Classic. That's right, a heavyweight unification fight has been relegated to a network which reaches 35 million fewer households than ESPN. Nevertheless, if you do get ESPN Classic, then be sure to check out the fight as Chagaev could provide Klitschko's toughest test since Samuel Peter in 2005.

That's not to say it will be an entertaining fight. If Klitschko has his way - which he usually does - then it will be fought at a 'safe' distance dictated by his seven-inch reach advantage. It's also not to say that Chagaev will win. He won't. But at least he should be more aggressive and more willing to take chances than Klitschko's last seven opponents (Hasim Rahman, Tony Thompson, Sultan Ibragimov, Lamon Brewster, Ray Austin, Calvin Brock and Chris Byrd).

Klitschko-Chagaev will be televised in the U.S. at 5 p.m. ET on ESPN Classic and ESPN360.com.

Thank you to ESPN Classic. The word classic fits in nicely with Heavyweight Champion.
