Vitali Klitschko vs. Valuev Later This Year?
Wednesday June 24, 2009
It looks as if there may be another heavyweight unification bout later this year as Vitali Klitschko (WBC) and Nikolay Valuev (WBA) are reportedly in talks to meet in either September or October. If Vitali were to win - as expected - the Klitschko brothers would hold all four major belts as brother Wladimir is currently the IBF/WBO champ.
Given the mess that the heavyweight division has been in recent years, anything that reduces the number of beltholders is a good thing.

An interesting matchup, and one that I think will definitely go ahead. The Klitchko’s have always made it clear that they wanted to be the only brothers in history to unify the heavyweight division, and this is the last remaining belt, so I’m sure Vitali & co will really push to get this fight on. Who will actually want to watch it is another question – although I’m sure it will go down a storm in Eastern Europe!
