Comments
This was a very entertaining and exciting fight. Equally entertaining was the post-fight interview with Ortiz. The guy was brutally honest – almost “too” honest in his assessment of the fight and his future.
I can understand his not wanting to live the rest of his life as a drooling vegetable, but if that’s the case, he may have picked the wrong career.
As morbid as it may be, fight fans do not want to see a boxer being “prudent” or “careful.” They want action and if you go out, they want you out on your back, leaving everything in the ring. “Quit” is truly a four letter word in boxing.
His comments were something that usually only an established, war-grizzled veteran could get away with making. He’s too young and unknown to be making moves like this already.
He’d better string together a whole bunch of successive and impressive victories or his potential star atatus will be cooked.
