Former world champ Vernon Forrest was shot and killed last night in Atlanta during an attempted carjacking. According to Atlanta police, Forrest had stopped at a gas station to put air in the tires of his Jaguar when at least two men with semi-automatic weapons attempted to take his vehicle.

What a senseless death. In this economy I guess people are getting more desperate but how sad for such an admired fighter to leave us this way. Prayers and thoughts to his family. I am really saddened by all the tragedy in boxing in the last few weeks.
What is going on in the boxing field of sports. So many deaths! This one could have been avoided!!! If he hadn’t gone after them with a gun….but I would have exactly done the same damn thing – you bet!!! It’s just so upsetting that you can’t even go to the store or get gas without someone trying to rob you???? What a shame..I still say YES to guns!
It is enough to deal with all the deaths in the boxing world as of late and I find it distasteful and disrespectful to the memory and dignity of all those boxers who have died just recently to have the Holocaust mentioned at the same time. We have had 60 years of that already. So let’s have some time and decent, respevtful coverage for the present.
This is such a damn shame I dont even know what to say. This world has is packed with all kinds of cowards, without those guns those punks werent man enough to take anything away from Forrest. this is totally messed up.
