As expected, 17 years was way too long to wait for Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones Jr. to finally face each other in a rematch of their 1993 bout won by Jones. As expected, it went the distance. As expected, it was ugly. As expected, Jones was clearly the more "shot" of the two past-their-prime old-timers. And, as expected, anyone who shelled out $49.95 to purchase the pay-per-view felt buyer's remorse after the bout.
For what it's worth, Hopkins got the revenge he has wanted for so long by taking a unanimous decision over Jones in a foul-filled 12-rounder. Hopkins went down from punches behind the head in rounds six and eight, and a low blow in round ten. None appeared that bad but Hopkins milked them for maximum effect. The bout was interrupted again in round eleven so that the ring doctor could take a look at a cut above Jones' left eye that was caused by an unintentional headbutt.
Unfortunately that was about it for action. The crowd booed during the lackluster final round. Scores were 118-109 and 117-110 twice - all for Hopkins. After the fight, both Hopkins and Jones were taken to the hospital for precautionary purposes.
Jones will reportedly talk to his advisers before deciding whether to keep fighting. Anyone who cares about Jones will urge him to retire before he gets seriously hurt.
Hopkins, who has no intention of retiring, said "I want David Haye, the heavyweight champion of the world". Hours earlier, Haye had successfully defended his WBA title with a ninth round TKO of veteran John Ruiz.

I love roy jones jr!!!!!!! He is my husband! Please don’t say ugly mean things about him! We will be married one day! he is sooooooo fine! lolololololol
hopkins can and will head-butt…just ask william joppy !! his face was deformed after fighting hopkins several years ago. as for jones; he should retire, he hasn’t been the same since moving up to heavyweight to fight john ruiz. he lost his speed and endurance for the sake of more mass and muscle at heavyweight. he should have retired after beating ruiz (by decision) for the belt.
