While 47-year-old former champ Evander Holyfield is unlikely to be successful in his quest to win yet another heavyweight title, he proved that he can still win a professional prizefight ... as long as his opponent is also in his 40s. Holyfield, who came in at a still-chiseled 220 pounds, looked rusty early against 41-year-old Frans Botha but eventually caught up with the pudgy South African, knocking him down with a right early in the eighth and forcing the referee to stop the fight less than a minute later with Botha still on his feet but absorbing punishment. Through seven rounds, two judges had Botha ahead 67-66 while the third judge favored Holyfield 69-64.
Holyfield appears intent on remaining an active fighter but it doesn't appear that fans remain interested in paying to see him fight. This bout took place at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, which holds 18,645 for boxing ... but only 3,127 people showed up for the event.

It just all went down for Holyfield after Tyson. I still would pay to see him fight providing he was fighting a decent fighter.
If Tyson and Holyfiend were to fight again I think Tyson would win. Tyson just needs to train hard and work hard. He seems lazy to me.
Evander Holyfield is a true warrior, who has proven again and again that he has the skill and the heart of a world champion. When he says that he will be the undisputed Heavyweight Champion of the World again, I can’t help but believe him. His faith and spirit should be an inspiration to us all.
I think there a lot of Holyfield fans and the attendance was low because of low advertising. Many people that I talk to still to this day did not know about the fight in april.
With Evander, you have to realize that he is the truest Warrior ever in boxing, and most fighters come in and want to see what they are made of, and try to go to war with him. You see in every fight, trainers telling their fighters to box and move, yet they want to battle to see what they are made of, with the exception of the farce of a 7 foot giant who they gave the title to in a horrible display of how fixed boxing is these days. Evander, as much of a warrior he is, is the last remaining graceful man in this now horrible sport.I do wish he won that fight and retired, as the issue now is as with most fighters who were once great and get older their motor skills slow down an bit, and even though they see an opening, by the time the brain tells them to hit, the spot is gone, and they end up being inactive as a result. His record now looks bad as compared to ten years ago when he should have hung them up. I would much better like to see him in interviews or even films then in the ring as he can’t do what he once could. Too many great wars in his prime took to much out of him. But his great faith in the Lord keeps him believing in continuing his quest. I do hope God comes to him and tells him that Evander did everything he could in and for the sport and it is time to let go. I watch and hope that something of the ole him can come out for one more great fight. Lay it all out, no matter what, so he can look back and say I did all I could, and people are proud of me and God is smiling.
I think there is plenty of Holyfield left in is boxing career. He should continue boxing.
