Middleweight world champion Sergio Martinez looked spectacular in his destruction of previously undefeated Sergiy Dzinziruk, scoring five knockdowns en route to an eighth-round TKO. So what does he do for an encore? Martinez, 36, is a late bloomer who can not afford to waste his time with mandatory challengers. He's looking for big fights - and big paydays - that will keep him in the pound-for-pound discussion.
Martinez would love to face either Manny Pacquiao or Floyd Mayweather Jr. - and would drop down to 154 to make it happen - but he's simply too big and too strong. Mayweather would never take the fight and Pacquiao should resist the temptation. might be tempted but should feel no pressure to do so.
So who should Martinez fight next? A third fight with Paul Williams is a possibility down the road but unlikely this year, so it's got to be a new opponent. Vote in our poll and tell us who you'd like to see Sergio Martinez face next.

I think Sergio would destroy Cotto, but that fight could do very good business, especially in NY. Cotto did a good job filling Yankee Stadium against Foreman, who doesn’t have the name appeal/value that Sergio does (though in all fairness, Foreman probably brought a lot of his Jewish fans out to the fight). If they’re smart, they’ll do this around the time of the Puerto Rican day parade, if both men can recover by then.
Otherewise, I think I’d like Sergio to move up to fight Andre Ward. Chavez Jr. could have appeal, but I don’t think he’s ready in his career yet to fight Sergio Martinez.
Martinez at 36 would make a great match up with either Bernad Hopkins at maybe 165, or Glenn Johnson. This would really be the “Battle of the Aged” but what great fighters with so much heart.
F.Mayweather jr.(If he has the …..) should step up and fight S.Martinez. With all the time he has had off, he probably weights as much as a middleweight now. With all the B.S.he spills out-he could make as much or more fighting Martinez and it would be a more even fight, with him moving up one weightclass than PacMan, who has moved up 5!!! already.

I think hard hitting,jaw testing, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez is do for a good challenge, no one yet, has been able to beat the “young canelo”.

Personally I would like to see either Floyd M. Jr or B. Hopkins
for the same reason. They are both primadonnas and I would love to see someone to shut them up for good. Mayweather is good but he is a runner. If he thinks he is such a good fighter, then why does he run? Stop in the ring and face the opponent

But if you only THINK you are, than you will. So I challange him to show the world what he can do. He has two very great opportunities. As for Bernard Hopkins, I think he is a dirty fighter (indicating that he is hit on the back of the neck and hurt, when he is not) and a clincher. He is too old and he can’t fight anymore. But, because he thinks he can, he should face off with Sergio Martinez and he should be put out of his misery once and for all. A Sergio and Manny fight would not be
a good idea. The class and stature would be equal but the weight difference would definately be a no. A Berto-Martinez fight would be more befitting.

Ward VS Martinez It will be a good fight but I think Ward will beat Martinez PACROID and PBF is to small for martinez. PBF AND PACROID will get murder by martinez because he’s bigger and stonger then both. No one cares to see Martinez fight Johnson or Hopkins. Its a waste of time. Same as its a waste of time to watch Paq destroy Shane Mosley…. even Mayweather can beat Mosley and he is a big mouth chump. I think Martinez/ Bute or Burto or ward would be a great fight. Honestly with the way Martinez is fighting I don’t see anyone beating him right now.

I think Martinez is a very talented and dangerous opponent for anyone. I would love to see him against Mayweather because I don’t think “The Pretty Boy” could handle him. Martinez would show him what a real fighter can do!
