Super Six Poll: Andre Ward vs. Carl Froch. Who Will Win?

From Andrew Eisele, About.com GuideDecember 14, 2011

Follow me on:

After more than two years of fights, injuries, delays and replacements, the Showtime Super Six Super Middleweight Tournament has - finally - reached its final bout. On Saturday night in Atlantic City, NJ, Andre Ward and Carl Froch will square off with both the WBA and WBC belts on the line.

This is the biggest pro bout in the career of either. There is no rematch clause in the contract so the winner will hopefully meet IBF champ Lucian Bute for true supremacy in the super middleweight division.

Who do you think will win the fight? Ward or Froch? Vote in our poll.

Its difficult to go against an unbeaten champion but I think Froch will pull off a late tko. Ward looked very uncomfortable against Abraham in the early rounds. Abraham was unable to keep the momentum going, maybe Ward figured him out. Froch on the other hand never gets discouraged and is capable of absorbing huge punches. We are not sure if Ward can. Froch is a genuinely hard man. Not sure about Ward. Froch has been tested, Ward hasn’t. If Ward can do the things he really hasn’t been called on to do then he will win on points. Any weaknesses and he gets stopped. Hopefully it will be a great fight with a clear winner then But’e.

If there is a referee who enforces the rules & prevents Andre Ward from leading with his head Froch can win. If there is a ref who ignores head butts but enforces pushing such as the ref during the Kahn-Peterson bout Ward will win.

I’m an American & must say I am absolutely ashamed & embarrassed at the degree of unfairness displayed by both judges and referees in American rings. I’ve been following boxing since 1960 & used to believe that the one place where both fans & fighters can be ensured of a fair fight & fair outcome is the USA. After the despicable referring & Official scoring I’ve watched in the Sergio Martinez-Kermit Cintron; Andre Ward-Mikel Kessler & Amir Kahn-Lamont Peterson just to name a few for example this can no longer be said. No longer is the USA a place of fair play. If this was limited to just boxing that would be sad enough, unfortunately compared to the unfairness exhibited by entities like the Food & Drug Administration & American Medical Association who purposely have caused millions prevented cures of maladies like cancer, asthma, arthritis & Paralysis with capricious & arbitrary decision making that is based on underlying corruption of the worse kind. Health in Politics: The Suppression of American Medicine is a book exposing these terrible deeds with indisputable proof. America is losing its once touted standard of Fairness in a myriad of ways. Without reliable fairness you have nothing. Heightened Scrutiny is badly needed to discern and remove corrupt-inept officials . What Happened in the first King Kong Agbeko-Abner Mares bout was ineptitude of the highest order. Referee Mora should be banned or limited to four round preliminaries until he has demonstrated on a consistent basis that he actually knows the rules and can dispense them in a fair, neutral & consistent manner. The problem is not limited to the USA alone. Canadian Referee robbery by Marlon Wright when he wouldn’t count out Lucien Bute to rob Librado Andrade of victory in an act of blatant cheating without without repercussion.

Apparently Mr. Eisle draws a savvy audience to his Boxing Columns. The majority of followers of Andrew Eisele’s Boxing Column correctly predicted Ward’s Decision Victory in the Super Middleweight Tourney. I thought this tournament was absolutely fantastic. There was a bunch of great matches that probably would never have occurred but for the staging of this tournament. I hope there are tournaments in every division. The best formula would be a single elimination 16 or 8 man tournament. A 16 man tourney would mean the finalists would engage in 5 bouts, while an 8 man tourney would involve one less match for the Championship principals.
