The crash happened in Atlanta shortly before 8 am.m on Sunday morning. Williams' manager says that Williams - who was wearing a helmet - swerved to avoid an oncoming car and rode up an embankment before losing control of the bike, landing on his back and head. A police report states that Williams "was traveling too fast for conditions and couldn't negotiate a curve and the bike left the roadway" but makes no mention of other vehicles. Regardless of the exact cause of the crash, the accident brings a sudden, tragic end to the boxing career of a talented, exciting fighter who has always seemed to be a genuinely good guy.
Just last week it was announced that Williams would challenge WBC junior middleweight champ Saul "Canelo" Alvarez on September 15 in Las Vegas. Instead, the 30-year-old Williams will be facing an even bigger challenge ...

I feel and pray for Paul and his family.
Andrew, please give it some time before you declare “sudden, tragic end to the boxing career”
Give hope a chance. Give tragic a chance to turn into something bigger. Let’s see if this champion can either rise to this challenge or rise to a different and let’s face it, more meaningful life challenge.
It is very sad that Williams is paralyzed. Does the name Diego “Chico” Corrales remind anyone of why motorcycles and the human body do not mix well?
I hope Williams can rise to an even greater cause in life following this crash. I suspect we will see his “Champion” internal make-up thrive in ways other than in the ring.
Hey Ben,
His spine was severed not damaged. It is a “sudden, tragic end”
May god be with him&his family as they face the work load ahead. Too young-too fast-life can past you in a matter of seconds.Peace&prayers.
My heart & prayers go out to Paul williams & his family. Too bad the foolish FDA precludes ambulances in the USA from carrying the medicine DMSO on its ambulances. That medicine prevents paralysis from occurring as it opens the blood stream so the the traumatized area which siffered injury get blood flow cutoff. In Canada & Europe where DMSO is legal, a topical application of DMSO to the injured area allows the bllod to get to the soinal cord & prevents the injury from causing paraylsis, but the Big Pharmcedutiical companies and the FDA conspire to keep this miracle drug out of the grasp of the American public because then nobody would need their expensive drugs that needlessly drives up the cost of healthcare to astronomical levels. Williams was a very good boxer & an excellent person. Hopefully his family & people that love him bring him to Canadsa where he can receive treatment that might still save him from being paralyzed for life. goggle DMSO & Politics in Health: the Suppresion Suppression of American Medicine by Daniel Haley, a former member of the United States Congress to learn of the awful corruption in fighting traumatic injuries & cancer by the FDA, AMA & NCI.
Yes, i remember Diego Corrales, his life cut short by a motorcycle accident.
My heart and prayers to Paul Williams and his family.
As KEN says, I think ” he will succeed in ways other than the ring.”
And thats what happens when you are stupid enough to ride a motorcycle.
