That’s an amazing study, and apparently very credible. It appears the author has no bias toward either fighter, no background in boxing, and he allowed for +/- variance in his equation.
I understand that there is NO bad publicity. The general public is talking about boxing because of this decision. However, the discussion revolves around how bad it was, how bad it is for boxing, and how this doesn’t happen in UFC.
More judges might be the answer! Great article.
Sad that boxing does this. When my Dad boxed amature in the Marines, the cornerman always told him. “Knock the bum out because you never know how the judges will score it.” They should check the Pac/Brad judges bank accounts and spending habits these next few months.
This was the worst ruling in boxing since the Pryor/Arguieo (sp) “. . . water bottle! No the one with the special mix!) by Pryor’s corner and no piss test after the fight.
It is very BAD for boxing as boxing is loosing massive ground in this age to MMA. It looks like pro wrestling. FIRE the judges, investigate for fraud and imprison if guilty!!
Just theories. Rematch clause was made 2 wks. before the fight, Bradley was a 4 to 1 underdog in Las Vegas, Pacquaio has not performed well in his last few fights there in Las Vegas (money capital of the world). Bradley stated after the fight that he has to watch the video to see if he won the fight. If I not mistaken all the judges were from Las Vegas. This is not a black eye to boxing they are now hitting below the belt.
I’m not saying this was a factor but I don’t hear anyone saying it.
Perhaps the decision was bias being in the US by US Judges an American fighter against a Filipino fighter.
I have read a lot of excuses from the judges. in my own humble opinion, we are jus human being and not perfect and so with judges of Pacquiao-Bradley fight.
I have been a rabid fan since 1953 and have never seen a worse decision in my life. The fix was truely in play.
There have been many terrible decisions but none worse this.
