Wladimir Picks Someone His Own Size

Heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko has dominated smaller opponents for years. Now, for the first time in his professional career, he's going to be looking up at an opponent (if only by one inch). For title defense number thirteen, Klitschko has selected 6-7, 250 pound Mariusz Wach, who is from Poland but lives and trains in New Jersey. The bout will take place on November 10 at the O2 World Arena in Hamburg, Germany.

Wach, 32, is 27-0 with 15 KOs. That's the good news. The reality is that he has faced limited opposition with Kevin McBride and Tye Fields as the biggest names on his resume. Nevertheless, it's nice to see Klitschko face a big, undefeated fighter rather than the retreads and blown up cruiserweights he has faced recently.

Wladimir's older brother, Vitali, is set to defend his WBC belt against undefeated Manuel Charr (21-0, 11 KOs) on September 8 in Moscow.

In all the heavy weight boxings history…The years of the Klitchko brothers has had the weakest and sorriest group challengers .None of the fault belongs to either Kiltschko’s.
Boxing has not kept up with the times as far as the money goes comparing to the other sports such as Football,Basketball,Soccer. These guys get huge amounts of money without so much punishment.
There needs to be more incentive to bring in more good heavy weight boxers.
There just hasn’t been anyone with that “WOW ” factor… Someone such as Ali or Frazier, Or even big George Foreman or the young knockout artist Mike Tyson…When Lennox Lewis was a good Champion but he lacked that “WOW” too.And he never faced anything great in his time either. They were blown up middle weights or over the hill and wore out guys.
Hits not worth watching now.All the excitement is in Manny Pacquiao weight divisions.Even though he had two of the crookedest judges in the sport of boxing.Hell Ray Charles could have seen that the Pac man won that fight.

When will the HEAVY WEIGHT division get someone in the ring with the
WOW” factor that holds us in AWE ? Not since Mike Tyson was a young man that was barely old enough to Vote has there been a Heavyweight Champion of the World with that Factor.
Now I am in no way blaming or putting any of the fault on either Klitschko brother that they have not had any great opponents ….
I think that The lack of the big money being paid to draw greater men into the boxing ring so we can have better up and coming contenders is why … compared to other sports like basketball or football …why would a great athlete want to box?

K-Bros could probably beat anyone in the Heavyweight division for all time. Gene Tunney was an undefeated Hvwt,, who might have proven illusive, The writers keep discounting these guys for whatever reason.

Its all about cultural perception!

Neither of the K-bros could have ever beat Ali,Frazier ans surely not Mike Tyson before his coach died. Not even Holmes or Foreman.I dont think the K Bros could even beat Holyfield when he was in his prime.
Oh.and Im white. So color/race has nothing to do with it.
Right now the look big and tough.and they are the Champs. But there has been NO one worthy of even trying to fight them.
For what ever reason ALL the heavy weight Champs for many years have been Americans. Now there are easier ways to make that big money.
Right now the MMA is drawing better fighters than boxing.I hate to say it.But its trure.

Can’t blame the Klischko brothers because there no competition out there-Kukos to them for fighting some undefeated fighters-that’s the Rocky movie theme-some unknown guys getting a chance to become Heavyweight Champion of the World!

I’m with Bernie. I believe the K-Bros could have beaten any heavy weight in any time in history. And they don’t have to have tattoos or arrogant additudes to do it.
