Former heavyweight contender Jimmy Young, 56, has died of heart disease after a six-day hospitalization. In 1976, Young, a slick boxer, lost via 15 round decision to Muhammad Ali in his only title shot. Young's biggest win was a 12-round unanimous decision over George Foreman in 1977 which sent Foreman into a ten-year retirement. Young also faced Ken Norton, Gerry Cooney, Ron Lyle and Earnie Shavers in a career which spanned from 1969 to 1988. Young won only four of his final 14 bouts, leaving his career record at 34-19-2 with 11 knockouts.
