So, this was a pretty good fight.
This was also a pretty bad writeup.
I was pulling for Clottey but the statement the writer makes calling it a draw at best is just inaccurate. I felt the men were at a draw myself, but that’s a feeling not science.
First, there was one knock down. This pretty much means that we won’t see a draw.
Second, a lot of rounds could go either way.
Lastly, this was Clottey’s fight to loose and he managed to do it. I really think he could have KO’d Cotto, but he didn’t take the risks. That’s part of boxing as well, knowing how to pace yourself. Clottey had plenty in the gas tank at the end so in my opinion, he did a poor job on the largest stage.
I scored this one 114-113 Cotto but could see it going either way. Yes, the 116 score was rediculous, but the decision overall was justified.
